American tech company Microsoft recently announced a multi-year partnership with Pearson, a UK-based education company. According to Microsoft, this project aims to “transform the future of learning and work with AI.”

“By combining Pearson’s expertise in learning and assessment with Microsoft’s cloud and AI technologies, this partnership will play a foundational role in helping organizations realize the full value of AI through reskilling.”, the company confirmed in a blog post.

The recent progress in AI has seen more and more institutions implementing AI-powered tools in their workflow. This naturally creates a job market where relevant skills in AI have become increasingly necessary. Microsoft highlights this fact in its “2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report” which shows about 66% of organizations prefer applicants with AI skills.

Personalized Learning And AI Services

To Bridge this gap, Microsoft and Pearson have outlined several approaches. Pearson will utilize Microsoft’s Azure Cloud Computing and AI infrastructure to offer learners personalized learning and AI services. Pearson will also deploy Microsoft 365 Pilot to its entire workforce. In return, Microsoft has expanded its commitment with Pearson VUE to 2029. Pearson VUE provides users with certification exams, test preparation materials, and learning materials.

Additionally, Microsoft will attempt to build AI proficiency by offering new AI credentials and certifications.

Speaking on the potential this partnership holds, Pearson’s CEO Omar Abbosh, said, “AI is driving a true revolution in education and work, and we must reinvent the way people learn to meet this crucial moment. Partnering with Microsoft means we can reach more learners than ever.”.
