Shaquille O'Neal

Shaquille O'Neal has finally been served a class action lawsuit against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and several other influencers.

  • The superstar is among several celebrities accused of promoting the exchange’s ‘fraudulent schemes.’
  • Lawyers representing the plaintiffs claim they have unsuccessfully tried to serve O’Neil severally.

Basketball hall of famer Shaquille O’Neal has finally been served a class action lawsuit against collapsed crypto exchange FTX, founder Sam Bankman-Fried, and several other influencers.

O’Neal has reportedly eluded several attempts to be served by the lawyers representing investors who lost money following the FTX collapse, according to a Moskowitz law firm, which claimed that the superstar was “hiding and driving away from (the) process servers for the past three months.”

“Plaintiffs in the billion $FTX class action case served @SHAQ outside his house. His home video cameras recorded our service, and we made it clear that he is not to destroy or erase any of these security tapes because they must be preserved for our lawsuit,” Moskowitz Law Firm said.

The law firm also claimed that attempts to reach O’Neal on social media platforms, Twitter and Instagram, failed. Further, a visit to TNT studios, where Shaq usually appears on ‘the NBA on TNT’, was met with heavy security presence and threats against the process server.

Although Shaq has yet to respond to the summons, he denied involvement immediately after FTX went under, saying “(he) was just a paid spokesperson for a commercial.”

A resident of Florida, who also claims to be one of FTX’s investors, Edwin Garrison, brought the suit before the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The other celebrities mentioned in the case included. Stephen Curry, tennis superstar Naomi Osaka, Thomas Brady, and Kevin O’Leary are accused of defrauding investors by marketing FTX.
