Chainlink has launched a new dedicated developer platform called ‘Functions‘. This platform will be the bridge between Web2 and Web3.
‘Functions’ is the latest platform launched by Chainlink recently, with the feature of seamlessly connecting decentralized applications (dApps) with the traditional web. The platform is in beta on the Ethereum Sepolia and Polygon Mumbai testnets.
Chainlink’s Functions will allow blockchain developers to connect their dApps or smart contracts with any application programming interface within the traditional tech space without managing infrastructure. The platform has integrated with various cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services, Meta, and others.
According to Kemal El Moujahid, Chainlink’s product manager, launching Functions will remove a significant hurdle in Web3 adoption. In the words of Moujahid, “With the launch of Functions, we are removing a major barrier to web3 adoption and helping developers combine smart contracts with the powerful APIs and web2 data sources they need to build Building great apps is easier than ever.”
